For the skills development among the youth
of the nation, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal
Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) was launched as a key measure to impart training based
on skills to people. This skill
development program is proposed to enable the youth of the nation to
earn and support nation’s anti-poverty endeavors. As India has world's largest
youth population, this scheme is very important for the nation. The
implementation of the Pradhan Mantri
Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is done through the National Skill
Development Corporation. PMKVY is likely to impart skills training to the 24
lakh youth with total outlay of about INR 1,500 Crore.
Objectives
of PMKVY:
- To make people
skilled in various areas so that they can become employable and live a
decent life.
- Providing
monetary awards for skill certification by incentivizing them for skill
training to boost employability and productivity.
- Offering a
monetary reward per candidate who is undergoing skill training.
- The skill development program aims to
raise productivity of existing workforce and provide training and
certification as per the industry needs.
Features
of PMKVY:
- The training
is provided based on the standards defined by the industry-driven bodies.
- The skill
training is provided based on assessment of skill demand.
- The training
providers will undergo the due diligence according to the guidelines.
- Soft skill
training, personal grooming and behavioral change for cleanliness are also
included in training.
- Mentoring
support to the candidates is provided by the government.
